When I was growing up, I remember receiving the city’s parks and rec program catalog each season in the mail. Sitting at the kitchen table with a pencil in hand, I’d excitedly flip through the catalog’s freshly printed pages and circle all the fun classes and activities that I wanted to attend.

This art exhibition, Parks Department, is an expression of gratitude not only for our local parks and greenspaces but also for the wonderful programs that our parks and rec departments provide for our communities—programs that bring us together to play, learn something new, and explore the beauty right on our doorstep.
